Cheap Car Insurance – How to Get It

Cheap Car Insurance - How to Get It

With gas prices being the way they have people all over the country have started to get creative with their finances and the costs associated with auto travel.

Prices vary from company to company, so it pays to shop around. Get at least four to five price quotes. You will find that there are several websites out there that can save you the time from doing this the slow and hard way as they will often get you quotes from up to a dozen companies all at once. You can call companies directly or access information on the Internet. Your state insurance department may also provide comparisons of prices charged by major insurers. And no, companies like Progressive that claim they will compare other companies, but they are an insurance company, so they are not to be trusted. They only have one interest, and that is to promote their own business.

Bigger is not always better. There are several low cost automobile insurance companies offering competitive rates in relation to the big names out there. This makes it possible to save a bundle on this expense. Many people seem to ignore this cost and tend to accept the burden of expensive insurance even when monthly payments almost match a car payment. In one case, I lowered my car insurance rates by about 50% when I found a good local company (I had switched from a really big name company).

One of the best ways to get cheap car insurance is simply to use a service that forces insurance agents and brokers to compete against one another. At the end of this article is one example of such a site. As soon as you finish your online quote request, multiple agents will contact you. But it is important to NOT sign up with any one of them immediately-Instead, let them know that you are awaiting calls from other local insurance providers. After 5 or so of these people have contacted you, you should have a good idea of what sort of range you might expect to pay.

Then, if you really want to get the cheapest car insurance possible, simply tell the agents that you are ready to buy within the next 24 hours with whichever company offers you the lowest insurance rates. This really puts the fire under them, and is sure to create the most optimal pricing for you. Of course, be sure to carry through on your promise.

If it makes sense, you may want to consider getting a bundle package. Basically, see what it might cost to insure not only your car, but also your home, property, health and life insurance. This can save a person around 10% – 30% depending on the company you go with; and it does make paying your bills easier as well.

Oh, and one more tip, remember that the more info you provide upfront, the more accurate your quotes will be, and the more likely the insurance companies will be responsive to your inquiry. This is especially true when filling out a quote from multiple companies.

I have seen many people on here say that you are automatically covered when your parents have full coverage, including insurance agents. This is not true of all companies. Call your insurance carrier and ask. It is a lot easier than finding out after an accident that you are not covered.

I don't have it and I don't trust it…human insurance is bad enough with all the small print. My dog insurance is Master Card, it's the only "insurance" I'd recommend. It covers everything, literally! Good luck though if you feel you really must purchase insurance!

lol reducing the copay would make shit even more expensive with the nickel and dimeing claims they encourage. There’s a reason why high deductible plans are much cheaper for both you and the insurance company. Weeds out all the BS claims that should be paid out of pocket

Call an insurance agent. They will know what insurance you need and how much it will cost. The insurance is to cover the people and items at the events you coordinate, not you personally.

Some group policies at work do not care about preexisting conditions.
Some do. It is usually the private ones, not work connected that
up the rates. Probably something to do with—- if you can work, then
you probably are not too sick, or disabled, so you can be insured.
If it is a dependent child, would you need to take insurance for you
as well as the child, and what is the waiting period.
Work insurance takes a while to go into effect. You may have a rider
or whatever it is called, that will exclude treatment, or make you wait
so long to have insurance, or treatment for the preexisting condition.
I don't know for sure, you could find out some how who the employer
or potential employer uses and check it out on line or by calling the company.

most insurance policies range from 30 to 90 days on a cancellation for non payment.

You need to stop and read your policy carefully. If this is a home owners policy there is likely an exclusion for using the house as a business.

When you bought the insurance you were probably purchased it through an agent. He didnt care what you told him. all he wanted to do was sale the policy. It's the underwriter that now wants to cancel it.

Bottom line. I think that you have two options.
    1. Purchase a commercial property insurance policy. (expensive but doable.)

    2. Search around and find another homeowners insurance policy and buy 1M dollars worth of umbrella coverage.

I'd spend my time looking for option two. The minute you ask about an umbrella, agents will be knocking your door down.

Stossel was actually alluding to the fact that what we could really use in this country is a healthcare system with insurance only paying for grave illnesses. Everything else ought to be out of pocket./// In truth, if a bill is $1,000, a person is really getting $100-$250 dollars worth of treatment, but they have to pay for all the beauracracy. Look, 14% of what that doctor charges was to pay his employees whose job it is to sort out insurance claims. Rediculous! Where else could fat be trimmed?

    1. I’ve always been able to get prices if I self pay, most recently $75 for the swine flu.
    2. With an HSA if you do pay for routine visits what you pay goes towards lowering your deductible, so it works for you, whereas a co pay goes nowhere, into a black hole.
    3. People abusing the system is the problem, why go to the doctor for a cold, they can’t help you, tough it out.
    4. 80 to 90% of illnesses are preventable, so take responsibility
