How to Start With Affiliate Marketing

How to Start With Affiliate Marketing

Online affiliate marketing began as a natural outgrowth of the popularity of “linking” to other sites. To put it simply, online affiliate marketing is a time tested strategy for making money online. It it is a network of online partners who refer business to your website.

It does not matter whether you have a website that sells a product or a website that has nothing to sell. But by adding online affiliate programs, you can not only add value to your website, but also maximize potential revenue.

Affiliate Programs, they say are the ideal way to make your website profitable.

Online affiliate programs began in the mid-1990,s and are currently a popular way to earn money online. In fact, research shows that affiliate marketing is the most cost-effective way to generate online sales. The concept of revenue sharing paying commission for referred business, predates affiliate marketing and the Internet. The translation of the revenue share principles to mainstream e-commerce happened almost four years after the origination of the World Wide Web in November 1994.

The simplest way is to just introduce your visitors to the business opportunities, products and services that they need, and, “make money online” based on commissions from these sales. In fact, online affiliate marketing is a great work from home business available to anyone with a computer and a desire to run their own affiliate business.

However, there is a catch to “affiliate-marketing”. That is to say over 80% of affiliates never get a check over $100, the 15% get the occasional check and it is the remaining 5% who really get monthly checks of any real size from affiliate programs.

To get started in affiliate marketing, you must know the fundamentals. For which you’re going to need an “affiliate marketing guide” to teach you the basics. Once you’ve studied the basics and grasped the “idea”, I don’t think there is any looking back.

Now, there are dozens of books advertised on various websites, making claims of massive earnings that can be achieved easily. Most of these guides are resell rights of other peoples’ ideas which are marketed under the marketers’ name. Now, there will be a time you may be doing the same thing what they are doing now. This is a natural phase most people go through and isn’t that what affiliate marketing is all about!

I am not saying those books are bad. But there are better ones out there. There is The Affiliate Marketers Handbook and the Super Affiliate Handbook. Recently, another book that is drawing much attention, purely because of the number of sales it has generated in such a short time is the Rich Jerk. The name justifies his character. But his ideas seem to work and the book seems to be on top of the charts. Now what more can you say, but to commend on his niche idea.

You can also look for more such good product(s) and which are in high demand from the ClickBank Mall. Just type “affiliate marketing” or affilate marketing guides and you would get instant access to loads to such products. Provide them your credit card details and voila! you can instantly download the book of your choice.

Although most aaffiliate marketing books are good in their own way, what boils down is to how you implement the knowhow you gained from it PRACTICALLY. Although this may take up some some time, it is to be noted that no books nor any marketing courses can come anywhere close to pure practical experience. Some good affiliate guides are given below in the resources section.

Learning to market on the internet as an affiliate is only step one. If you’re serious about online affiliate marketing, then you have to plan and set up a basic affiliate campaign. This is a start to finish campaign to getting started in affiliate marketing. It explains keyword research, finding profitable partners and markets, information on affiliate networks, guides and resources to making money online.

There is relatively an easy way to make a parallel income during the early stages of your online afiliate marketing home business. It can also help you avoid the common mistakes most of us make during that period. I am quoting this from personal experience.

Try and get hold of a FREE Web Page, containing a few successful affiliate programs. You can use it and learn how to run an affiliate campaign, at the same time learning the ropes of affiliate marketing. If you market this well, the chances are you will make money. Your main and only job would be to advertise your FREE website, by submitting it to search engines, e-mail it to friends, colleagues and others. Within a month or so, you shall see some income trickling in.

You also get familiar with search engine marketing, affiliate networks and affiliate directories, and other areas of online affiliate marketing.

You can start with a blog and start writing articles in the niche market of the product that you plan on promoting.
You can set up free blogs at sites like http://www.blogspot.com or http://www.wordpress.com

However the disadvantage of a free blog is, your blog can be suspended for whatever reason the site decided to. Imagine if you have done plenty of work on it, get good readership and ranking and then all of a suddden, you have it all wiped out. That's a lot of work wasted.
It's still better to host your own, you own it and can do whatever you want. But the choice is yours.
Buying a domain name and hosting it is not as expensive as what you think.
If you are serious about going into this, you may want to consider investing a little money into this business of yours.
domain is less than $10 a year at http://www.godaddy.com
hosting is about $10 a month at http://www.hostgator.com

http://www.clickbank.com is one that you can start with products that you don't need your own website to promote. It's all digital product and opening an account there is free, thus you have zero overhead there.

An good affiliate program that I do know of but will require your own site is one that I would recommend with step by step guide to affiliate marketing. You can watch this guy video for free and how he strategize on how to make $10k a month at
    http://www.wilsonchia.com/recommend/affiloblueprint.htm

Sign up at the site for the pdf version and access to 2 extra videos that he has already rolled out after you sign up
You better hurry though, he's opening the doors to his course on April 28 and it's goin to be for a week only.

I have also outline his course and features and still updating on my blog, the first posting is at http://www.wilsonchia.com/affiloblueprint-2/affiloblueprint/

In the end, the final decision is still yours and yours alone.
To you success and good luck

Of course you do. The government gets their hands on everything and you might be in big shit if you don’t file. Trust me, I make a living from leasing ad space and affiliate programs on my website. Report you taxes or else your fucked. Bottom line. Making money off of affiliate programs isn’t easily. You need a huge I mean huge amount of traffic. I’m not talking a couple hundred hits a day you need thousands sometimes hundreds of thousands of hits a day to make real, real good money.

I get comments on my headshot as well but no offers to be flown anywhere. In regards to the video, its good stuff and I would add that you should have your own hosted website so that blogs like wordpress do not punish you for what they consider breaking their rules.

Everyone on this page (so far) is offering you a program (except for Helen) and they all benefit from those programs if you join the programs. But that does not answer your question …

A blog is a type of software that helps you post (display) small articles on the web without having to set up a website. Most software for blogging are free.

Go to http://blogger.com to see some examples or set up a free one.

What's the point of blogging? Well, you can start talking about a specific topic eg beahc vacations. The you promote your blog and get traffic (visitors) to it and build a relationship with your readers.

Then if yor recommend a product or a holiday package from a company some of your readers may buy. If you are an affiliate for tht company, when somone buys you get a commission. The company pays you directly.

So selling (by promoting or recommending) products from other companies that you are registered with as an affiliate is called affiliate marketing.

You can do affiliate markeitng with or without blogging. There are a huge number of ways.

Can you make "quick" money, from affiliate markeitng? Yes and no. It is possible to make "quick" money but not for someone totally new.

When you know what you're doing, you can do anything quickly.

First you need to learn about affiliate marketing. Do some searches. Do not join any prigrams. Just learn from the info already published and there's a ton of it out there.

For example, do a search on

    http://ezinearticles.com

for "affiliate marketing". It is completely free. There is no registration or anything else. And LEARN LEARN LEARN.

How much can you make? There's a guy called Chris Wilson I think. He started with affiliate marketing (after learning what to do … took him a few months). He started earning a few hundred dollars per month …. and eventually hit $100,000 per month.

There are people who make 100K per week!

But the vast majoirty of people never make any money because they do not learn the basics and the intermediate and then the advanced stuff. They learn just a little and don't even apply half of what they learn.

They then give up and move on to another "scheme" or "program" and there are tons of those as you can see from the recommendations (offers) on this page.

And they continue to jump from one program to another. Literally millions of people go on program hopping for 2 or 3 years and spend thousands each and earn nothing.

Don't be one of those. Just learn, apply, monitor the results, make little (but very important) improvements and monitor again. This continuous process willl make rich beyond your imagination and you don't need any schemes or programs or tricks or shortcuts (that don't exist).

    Happy learning and earning

Thanks for your reply but I have no idea what you’re talking about. Do you mean the alligator video on my youtube account page? Who do I tell that I have my own website and is it my youtube account you’re talking about?

I also don’t understand the being “punished for breaking the rules” part either?

Sorry:) Could you please elaborate more? Thanks.

Sitesell is an excellent all around package for anyone who is just getting started in internet marketing. Your yearly fee includes web hosting, domain name purchase and easy to use web building tools.

However, what's more valuable is the training materials and user forum.

Sitesell is well worth the yearly cost.

Since 2006, Ive been trying to make a small fortune by trading the forex market online. Over the past three years as Ive been losing a lot of money, I have been very successful and very consistent at one thing: women, and the way Ive been accumulating women, so to speak is through online dating and it all starts with one thing: my head shot pic.

At the risk of sounding conceited Ive had so many dates or relations with women its not even funny anymore.

Hey Paul no you will not need a business license to start an affiliate marketing network. However I would recommend setting up an actual business. Its really cheap and your publishers and advertisers will trust you a bit more because of it. Good Luck!

I read the other posts as of today June 12, 2008…..let me share a few pointers about the other posts……1. They obviously are not successful affiliate marketers. 2. They don't hit the nail on the head.

Now let me advise I have been doing affiliate marketing for a few years….I own multiple monetized websites and continue doing the research to keep up with the Web Consortiums.
I am also a webmaster with my own webdesign and webhosting company. I love affiliate marketing.

The purpose of any affiliate marketer is to "pre-sell" an already existing product or service….it can be a digital or physical product too..but there are secrets to learning the skills to being a successful affiliate marketer.

If you are just looking into affiliate marketing as a hobby?……you're in for a big surprise….a long hard winding road of trials and tribulations with massive learning curves.

I'm into affiliate marketing for the cash….I don't give a krap if I promote purple rain or doggie doo-doo…I certainly don't try to "pre-sell" my interests or hobbies unless there is a tremendous demand for the information or products….

You must have a website, a autoresponder service, a lead capture system, web tools to find high demand high search es on the net…..you'll be looking for "What's Hot and What's Not"…then you need some other tools like tracking, analytics, split testing, merchant account and a few others too.

In addition, you must have the knowledge to drive massive traffic to your landing page or lead capture sales page and build your list of permission based double opt in leads.

You'll need the autoresponder system set up with a series of automated outgoing emails in a sequence building trust by providing unique quality content with the funnel process to end into a conversion sale.

You must give serious thought to your copywriting skills so you can not only move the free line, but also give perks along the way to educate your prospects. Give and you shall recieve.

The principle is a wash, rinse and repeat process no matter what hot market demand you do……but you must always include compelling offers and ethical bribes that force a timely return on your investment…..you do that with basic math on determining the time it takes you to package a campaign launch for the pre-sell and what you believe you are worth an hour.

A good clue to you is a lead captured through your permission based opt in is about $1 per lead a month
In other words, the more leads, as they grow in size and the longer you continue building a relationship with these prospects and clients….it's cummulative……it grows and if you crunch the numbers…..you build a list of quality relationships of 10,000 you can project a return on a product launch of your own design .like a digital delivery product on " how to do something"…..you broadcast a pre launch for building excitement and announcement with a lead sign up …you can expect by general rule of thumb about $10,000 ….

That dosn't include back end extras, upselling, or other monetized methods for affialiate marketing….

    In Summary;
    1. Determine a Hot Market
    2. Search for a relative web domain name
    3. Register that domain name
    4. Find a web hosting company to repoint your DNS
    5. Research competitors and websites in that market
    6. Sketch out a website better than your competitors
    7. Acquire a Web Building Software
    8. Acquire an FTP uploader
    9. Acquire an professional autoresponder service
    10. Acquire your analytics and tracking programs
    11. Build your 1st website with tables, HTML and Content
    12. Sign up and submit releases for article submissions
    13. Sign up for Search engine submission
    14. Build, upload and test your website for function
    15. Write, upload and test your responder sequencer
    16. Learn and implement advance CSS coding
    17. Register for adsense to monetize your website
    18. Register for Alexa and W3C certification
    19. Draft your Disclaimers, Terms of Service and Site map
    20. Launch

These are just the baby steps….but you can get by using this same concept in any Hot market if you wish with the wash rinse repeat concept, however, you'll find this to be limiting your income…..so once you master the basics, and have proven conversions in sales generating….move on to other more advanced methods…..

One last point….the idea is to build multiple websites in many hot markets….like a series of different car dealerships or restaurants..catering to large variety of market demands

This will then become an empire and you can literally print cash at will in your jammies behind your computer and only doing it a few hours a week….once you're good at your job.

First thing you need to do is find out what products you want to sell and if you know much about those products.

Second thing is what is you budget on how much you want to spend to market the product you choose to sell as an affiliate.

Third, are you going to start up a website? Or are you going to use pay per click? If your budget is low then PPC is not the right way to go. Unless you have great knowledge in PPC, if you do then go for it. If not , start a website/ word press blog to get a website going to show your products that you want to sell. The advantages to PPC compared to a regular website is PPC will give you keywords that people use to buy your product. This will take a couple of days if not a week as to compared to an seo website that you have to guess to see which keywords work for you and are buying keywords.

Another question, are you SEO savy? If so great then you know what to do to rank.
Now you will want to find a niche product, Niche = a product that is relatively new and is going to catch on fire really soon. Next thing you need to look at once you pick a niche product is how much commission the company you are going to be an affiliate of is going to give you. 10 to 20% is the norm. This is great but if they are selling products at $10 a product then when you sell a product for $10 you get a dollar commission. If you can drive 20 sales a day this is great but 9 times out of ten you will drive 1 sale every month and make a dollar a month which is not profitable.
What you will be looking for is to become and affiliate of a niche product that is $100.00 a sale if not more with about 10% to 20% commission. Most newer online companies will offer 20% commissions just to get you in the door and when you prove yourself and become an elite or super affiliate will up your commission percentage by 5 or 10%.
These are the guys you want to sell for. The ones that appreciate you.
You can find people to sell for by going to these website below and signing up for free.

    http://www.cj.com (commission junction)
    http://www.shareasale.com (shareasale.com)
    http://www.linkconnector (linkconnector.com)

There is a new product that is on fire in the United Kingdom. It is a company that sells electronic cigarettes. HUGE niche product.
This company is offering affiliates $25 just to become and affiliate. AND! you don't need a credit card to become an affiliate, just fill out your information and you automatically become and affiliate with a starting commission of $25.
They even give you a back end system where you can create a business card and save it to a .pdf file and then save that to a CD and take it to a office depot, office max to create your business cards so you can give to people to buy for you. Not only that but you business card will have your affiliate code on it that will give your clients a 10% discount if they buy. Who is going to turn down 10% off when they buy the products? So even if you don't have a website, or work from a highly trafficked office, all you need to do is sign up, create a business card and leave the business cards for people to pick up on your desk and you make money while you sleep! It is just that simple.

Ok I have talked enough and probably racked your mind so here is the link to where you can become and affiliate and get $25 starting bonus.

    http://www.electroniccigarette411.com/electronic-cigarette-affiliate-program/

I hope this helped answer your question but even better yet, I hope this helps you make some money!

From my experience I would suggest you learn about affiliate marketing & the techniques used by successful affiliate marketers first, before you attempt to make any money. You will save a lot of time & avoid common mistakes made by those new to this business.

Luckily all the information to learn about affiliate marketing is available free. The source listed below has many free ebooks, & master courses on the subject. There are also videos if you prefer learning that way.

The site features a product review of Site Build It which is used by thousands of people to build an online business. They monetize theirs sites with affiliate programs, adsense & other forms of advertising to name a few.

That is what has helped me the most because they have a clear, simple to follow action guide that shows you step by step what to do. You end up with a website that ranks high in the search engines. This is how you will get a steady flow of traffic from the seach engines. And in order to make money with affiliate marketing online, you will need a lot of targeted traffic.

They also teach you how to Presell your traffic before you send them to your affiliate links. This is how successful affiliates have a higher conversion rate. Affiliate marketing is a skill that takes time to learn how to do effectively. But if you are up for it, the information is there for you. Best of Luck…
